Today was the day...I felt HORRIBLE! Lunch from Friday did not agree with me and I was still feeling blah from it. I forced myself to get up at 4:40am and get ready to drive 45 minutes from Mobile to Bay Minette where the Ride Yellow bike ride would be. I was tired, sluggish from lack of food; but this ride was beyond me. I dedicated myself to 37 miles to show that I can support those who have had Cancer. I was riding for my mom and for a 17 month old Hero survivor who beyond all odds beat Cancer at such a young age. It brings tears to my eyes every time I think of her struggle. So, I got there...drank some more water...and proceeded to put myself in the right mindset and mood.
We started at 7am and did a 6 mile tribute ride. This would be my only chance to break off and go for the short route of 10 miles. Once I got there I decided I felt Great! I could do this and I would be okay. I pushed through, keeping pace with other bikers that I never thought I could keep pace with. I maxed my speed down a hill at 33.3 miles an hour and it was exhilarating! For the first hour my average pace was 15.5 miles an hour. That was great for all those darn hills! I was doing good until the rest stop at 28.5 miles. Once I got back up and going, I just couldn't quite get back to my speed I was maintaining in the first hour. I averaged 14 miles an hour for the next hour and a half and ended the 37 miles at 14.23 miles an hour and finished in 2:36:00. View my route and see the hills I faced! :)
I was so proud of myself for finishing the ride! I was exhausted, dead feeling; but I did it! I even got a surprise from Kassie...she brought Kynzie and Kamryn (my little Cancer survivor I rode for) to see me! It was a great surprise and I was so happy they came! This was a great experience and I hope that I can do it again next year and be more prepared for the ride! Here's to a few days of rest and the next workout! Until then...

One Quick Workout
It is Thursday and I need one more quick workout before my big race on Saturday! So I booked it to the Payne Center and tried to get in a quick run and body rock routine. I did a 2 mile treadmill run at a speed of 6.3 mi/hr and finished in 19:06! That was my best run on the treadmill yet! That was 9:34 min/mile! I am excited about that time, I only hope I can translate that to open road easily. I also got a 4 minute body rock routine in just to get some quick strengthening done to help boost my smaller muscles. Here is that workout:
Workout: 4 minutes, 50 seconds work and 10 seconds rest
Squats [23]
Push-ups [18]
Straight Abs [18]
Tricep Dips [22]
I hate I didn't get a chance to do more, but it was a great workout! I am super excited about my bike ride this Saturday. It is the Ride Yellow Cancer Tribute ride in Bay Minette, AL. I am doing the 37 mile route! I hope I do well :) Here's to Saturday. Until then...

Don't Let the "Weight" Drag You Down
Today I got back in the pool and went for a 900 yard workout. I seemed a little slow, but completed the workout in a decent time. I decided that doing something was better than nothing and even though I felt as though I were dragging a dead weight behind me, I pushed my hardest and got my workout in for today! Below are my workout results:
Warm Up:
1x50 ss (0:46)
1x50 kb (1:12)
Workout:
2x100 ss (1:45 and 1:54)
2x150 ss (2:54 and 2:55)
2x100 ss (1:50 and 1:51)
Cool Down:
1x50 kb (1:12)
1x50 ss (0:51)
My total active swim time was 17:10 and my total workout time was 30 minutes. I averaged 1:55 per 100 yards. Today was the first time I swam the 150 yard length. It felt good, but I will have to do this a few more times before moving up to the 200 yard lengths. I hope my times get better and continue to strengthen my arms and legs. I think I desperately need those Body Rock routines in between now to help increase my upper and lower body strength. Here's to the next workout. Until then...

No Payne No Gain
I decided to go to the Payne Center and get a treadmill run in along with a body rock routine. So I got dressed after work, and right before leaving the locker room I decided to weigh myself...bad idea!! I have gained 13 pounds since I started running a lot back in March. WHAT?! I don't understand why I am gaining weight. I know muscle is more dense than fat and will cause an increase, but I would rather stay the same...not get bigger! This was slightly discouraging, but I let it give me motivation to push myself instead of let it get me down. I owned that treadmill! I ran at a constant 6.0 pace until 18 minutes then every 2-3 minutes increased my speed until I finished my 3 miles at 6.4. I ran 3 miles in 29:49 and felt great! I stayed focused and I could have kept going, but decided that since this was my first run in about 2 weeks, I wouldn't over do it. I immediately went to the mat section and began some body rock moves. I didn't time myself, instead I did reps. Here is what I did:
Straight Abs (20)
Switch leg and reverse crunch (16)
Push-ups (20)
Sumo Squats (40) [20 at a time]
Wall plank with alternating knee to chest (20) [10 at a time]
I was SO sweaty when I got done! It felt great! And, just to prove a point (or at least I was hoping to prove one) I weighed myself again before I left and I was down 2 pounds. Maybe I just needed a great workout. I also need to have more than one great workout a week. I used to workout 5 days a week, maybe that's why I was slimmer and more in shape! Well, that is a new goal. Take it one day at a time and aim for 5 days a week again. Here's to the next workout. Until then...
