5 down, 1 to go! Here we were in Dallas ready to get this last race done with for the year and what do you know...it decided to MONSOON in the state of Texas! It was CRAZY bad out there. So much so that they had to alter the course and we were in the line to get in to the race for 5 HOURS! It only took us 3:53:20 to do the whole 10.15 miles of the race! To say we were pissed was an understatement. We were sure we would not make it before they quit letting folks on the course! Once again we finished this race when it was dark, but when we finished...it was SO worth it! As you can see below, we were a bit pissy...well, maybe not!

I made sure to take a picture of my tracker since they did not have me as finishing in the last 2 races I did! But, they fixed it before I got my last medal and the double medal... you better believe it!This course was so MUDDY! And with it being on Halloween, it was interesting to say the least...we saw a man in a creepy clown costume!! You can view the route we took here.
Check out that Double medal :) It was totally worth it!
It got dark fast, but we made it. This was a year in the making, well more like the months of April, May, and October! We forged through fire, ice, mud, dirt, dust, you name it...we probably went through it! But, I wouldn't trade it for the world! I love these races and hope to do more in the future :) Here's to the next muddy Spartan. Until then...

Here I am, 2 weeks later doing ANOTHER Spartan! I think I'm crazy! Haha This time though the weather was nice, the course was amazing, and it went by so fast!
This race was beautiful, dry, fast, and flat! We finished in 3:43:22 and went 11.84 miles! Not too bad! You can view our course here. Once we completed this race we only had 1 more to go for our Double Trifecta! As you can see below...we were excited! haha One accomplishment I can say happened at this race is that for the first time in all of my races I climbed the rope! To the top and rung that bell!! I was super pumped that I FINALLY did it!
I am so ready to get that last medal to complete this goal of mine! Plus I get an extra medal for doing a Double! Here's to the next workout! Until then...

While en route to Lake Tahoe, the man next to me on the plane (the plane full of Spartans mind you) asked, "So, what distance are you doing?" I responded with, "The Beast. I am double trifecta-ing this year". His reply..."Oh, that's cool. This is my 8th Trifecta. I'm doing the Beast Saturday then the Ultra-Beast Sunday". "OH!" was my response (an Ultra Beast is the Beast twice). You gonna be good to do all of that? I asked. his reply, "Sure. It's just a couple of laps"!
I had never had someone reference a Spartan race as a "lap" before. However, when I finished this course, I would truly know what it meant to do a few "laps". Doing a few miles for a Sprint or a few more for a Super would take on a whole new meaning.
First of all, Lake Tahoe was GORGEOUS! We were so excited to be there...but of course, the nice 70 degree temps decided to take a nose dive when we arrived. Right down to 37! YAY for freezing cold temperatures on a mountain that people usually ski on!
The green you see is the elevation change we got to experience!
This course was 14.99 miles long...7.5 miles up the highest peak in Squaw Valley and 7.5 miles down! You can view our course here. We were so excited to get started and were very excited when we finally finished...but the in-between...it was hard. Not exactly physically hard, but emotionally hard. It really played with peoples heads, some quit mid-way through and others had to be removed from the course. When we got to the last mile it started to sleet and lighting hit one of the cameras on the course and sparks flew. They were beginning to close the course and if we didn't hurry we would be stuck on the course and not be allowed to finish.
A group of us began to run, at this point we were close to almost 7 hours into the race and still we persevered. We bypassed the last obstacle (bucket brigade) and opted for the burpees that they said we were not allowed to do. But, if we stayed, we wouldn't make it. We could see the finish and after a few rope crossings and a few more burpees, we crossed the finish line, 7 hours and 4 minutes later. It was dark when we finished and it was colder than when we started, but we finished! This marked the end of Trifecta number 1 for us! After doing this course, it all seemed down hill from there! Ha
I was so proud of us! I will forever know what it is like to run a few "laps" when doing a Sprint or Super! It's all about the atmosphere, course, your physical ability, and your mentality. Everything has its role in a Spartan race. Here's to the next one! Until then...

Here is an April 2015 to October 2015 comparison of my progress:
My biggest loss is on my hips and the back of my legs! It is not about losing weight, it is about getting stronger and building on my foundation. My goal is to eat healthy (fats, carbs, and protein) each meal and to be sure to workout regularly. This is part of that commitment! Here's to the next workout! Until then...
