August 2013 workouts

Well here we are again...months after my last post...time slipping away without sending out any motivational vibes! Well, I did in fact workout in the month of August :) I had 2 very productive yard working days on August 2nd and 3rd. I pulled weeds, mowed the grass and trimmed the hedges. It was 4 hours and 15 minutes of intense work! Check out that yard!

August 10th through the 17th we went on vacation in the mountains. It was beautiful! I got 2 good runs in and we hiked one day. On the 11th I ran 3 miles in 32:36, which gave me a 10:50 pace. I wasn't too upset since I ran literally through the mountains! Check out my route. I even got a great picture of the area as I ran :) It was awesome! On my route, check out that hill I went up! It was crazy hard, and yes...I ran all the way up!

The weather was perfect, cool but not cold and the altitude made for a great run! On August 12th we took a family hike to Anna Ruby Falls. We had so much fun! The pictures never do a hill justice, but this was about .6 of a mile up...and when I say up, I mean up!

On August 14th I got one more short run in, only 2.25 miles and I did it in 22:16, which was a 9:54. You can check out my route here. We also went floating/fast tubing down the Chattahoochee River and we went zip-lining! We had so much fun on this vacation :)

When I got back I realized I needed some intense workout time...but I also got a quick dose of reality when I ran on August 20th and could only go 2.64 miles. I ran out of air...literally! It felt so good in the mountains running that I forgot how humid it was at home! You can view my statistics here. I ran 2.64 in 26:55, which was a 10:12 pace. I don't have a route for this run because my phone died and I couldn't track myself!

To complete August, I participated in my first spin class in 12 years on August 28th! It was a 45 minute class I did at lunch time. It. Was. Amazing! Heck me out afterwards...

I cooled down quicker, but I exerted as much or more energy as running outside! It was intense and I loved it! The good part about it is you can go at your own pace if you need to; so the class can be for all levels at once!

I look forward to my September workouts! I will keep you posted on those! Here's to the next workout! Until then...

Keep moving-
April :)

June to July

So...it seems that I have been quite the slacker...on posting that is! I have been working out, just not relaying the message! My last post was on the Ride Yellow Ride in June...WOW! I have done quite a few things since then :) So, I decided not to back post for 2 months, instead I will play catch up here and then move forward.

My runs for June (after the 15th - Ride Yellow):
June 18: 3.2 miles in 32:01 on campus.
June 28: 3.02 miles in 28:01 in Dallas. I went to a convention in Dallas and decided to run in the city :) I ran my best 3 miles ever at 27:43! It was amazing and I am very glad I got that experience.

My workouts for July:
July 9: I played 2 softball games
July 12: I did repeaters, so I ran a mile then did stairs then ran a mile then did stairs then ran a mile. My mile times were (1.10 miles) 8:46, (1.0 miles)10:16, and (0.93 miles) 10:03. I went up the stairs at work, which were 96 steps up and 62 steps down. My first run up was in 36 seconds and down took me 33 seconds. My second run up took me 33 seconds and down took me 31 seconds. Check out those stairs! You can view my routes with the following links: mile 1, mile 2, and mile 3.

July 13: I played in 3 softball games in a tournament. Boy was I tired afterwards!
July 26: I ran 2.01 miles in 19:42 then walked for .42 of a mile and ran 1.0 miles in 18:54. This was good neighborhood hill training! You can go here and here to view my route. After I got home I decided to do some floor exercises to increase my blood flow!

I did 15 each of the following:
Ugi ball squats - holding the ball out
Push ups
Dumbbell squats then swings
Ab crunches on the Ugi ball
Bar dips for triceps
Plank with feet on Ugi ball then bring knee to elbow (alternating legs) [20 total]

I have also done quite a bit of yard work and deep house cleaning over the past few weekends. I have dedicated about 4 plus hours to cleaning the house and 6 plus hours to mowing the grass, trimming the hedges, pulling weeds (seemingly over and over with no permanent outcome), sweeping the sidewalk, and an attempt to weed eat...but I failed miserably! But...the yard sure does look good! Now if only I could get someone to rake the yard...

Now that I have posted my workouts for the last 2 months I see that this is pitiful! I should have WAY MORE entries to talk about...I do, however, plan to workout while I am on vacation with the family next week. I meant to do more swimming this week, but just found myself enjoying not doing anything over lunch rather than working out and trying to mad dash back to work on time. I will do a better job, promise! I hope your workouts are going great! Happy back to school to everyone :) Here's to the next workout! Until then...
