Ride Yellow 37 miles

Today was the day...I felt HORRIBLE! Lunch from Friday did not agree with me and I was still feeling blah from it. I forced myself to get up at 4:40am and get ready to drive 45 minutes from Mobile to Bay Minette where the Ride Yellow bike ride would be. I was tired, sluggish from lack of food; but this ride was beyond me. I dedicated myself to 37 miles to show that I can support those who have had Cancer. I was riding for my mom and for a 17 month old Hero survivor who beyond all odds beat Cancer at such a young age. It brings tears to my eyes every time I think of her struggle. So, I got there...drank some more water...and proceeded to put myself in the right mindset and mood.

We started at 7am and did a 6 mile tribute ride. This would be my only chance to break off and go for the short route of 10 miles. Once I got there I decided I felt Great! I could do this and I would be okay. I pushed through, keeping pace with other bikers that I never thought I could keep pace with. I maxed my speed down a hill at 33.3 miles an hour and it was exhilarating! For the first hour my average pace was 15.5 miles an hour. That was great for all those darn hills! I was doing good until the rest stop at 28.5 miles. Once I got back up and going, I just couldn't quite get back to my speed I was maintaining in the first hour. I averaged 14 miles an hour for the next hour and a half and ended the 37 miles at 14.23 miles an hour and finished in 2:36:00. View my route and see the hills I faced! :)

I was so proud of myself for finishing the ride! I was exhausted, dead feeling; but I did it! I even got a surprise from Kassie...she brought Kynzie and Kamryn (my little Cancer survivor I rode for) to see me! It was a great surprise and I was so happy they came! This was a great experience and I hope that I can do it again next year and be more prepared for the ride! Here's to a few days of rest and the next workout! Until then...
